Establishment Division Seeks Details on Abolition of 150,000 Vacant Govt Posts

The Establishment Division has directed all ministries or divisions to furnish information/details along with notifications about abolished posts or posts declared as dying.

Sources told ProPakistani that the human resource department has given a reminder to all ministries or divisions with regard to the Cabinet’s decision on abolished posts.

The Establishment Division highlighted that the Federal Cabinet in its meeting held on August 27, 2024, approved the recommendation of the High Powered Committee on Rightsizing of the Federal Government.

Under the recommendation, 60 percent of vacant regular posts are to be abolished or declared dying posts. The vacant posts are assessed to be around 150,000.

Moreover, the powers of abolition of posts have been delegated to PAO/Secretaries of the Ministries Divisions, under the Financial Management and Powers of PAO Regulations, 2021.

In all such cases, the abolition of posts shall be notified by the Division concerned.

For implementation of the above decision, the Establishment Division along with the Finance Division have been made responsible for providing updates on the abolition of posts to the Cabinet Division.

In order to carry out the said assignment/exercise, the Establishment Division has requested to provide the requisite information/details along with notifications about abolished posts or posts declared as dying by 13-09-2024.
