Huawei just unveiled its groundbreaking Mate XT Ultimate, the world’s first tri-fold smartphone. Announced yesterday, this innovative device showcases Huawei’s technological prowess but with a hefty price tag. The Mate XT Ultimate is priced at $2,809.
However, the initial cost isn’t the only financial consideration for potential buyers. Huawei has released an official repair price list, revealing that screen repairs for the Mate XT Ultimate will be particularly expensive. Replacing the device’s unique folding display will cost $1,123, which is nearly as much as a new iPhone 16 Pro Max.
However, a limited number of screen repairs are available at a slightly reduced rate of $983, €892. Additionally, customers can opt for a prepaid plan: $491 or $561 secures one screen replacement within the first year of ownership.
Other component repairs also come with significant price tags. Replacing the mainboard, if necessary, will cost $1,278. The battery, however, is more reasonably priced at $70.
The back cover with the camera lens is priced at $193 while the other two covers cost $56 each. Individual camera replacements vary: the telephoto camera is $81, the selfie camera $53, the main rear camera $106, and the ultrawide $37.
Given these substantial repair costs, Mate XT Ultimate owners are advised to handle their devices with extreme care, particularly to avoid damage to the screen and mainboard. The potential repair expenses for these components alone could exceed the cost of many standard smartphones.
