Here’s the Points System for Champions One Day Cup

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has introduced a comprehensive points system for the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup, designed to reward teams not only for winning matches but also for achieving specific performance milestones. This system aims to encourage competitive play and strategic excellence throughout the tournament.

Basic Points Structure:

At the core of the points system, an outright victory in a match earns a team 10 points in the Champions Cup. However, the PCB has added layers of bonus points to incentivize exceptional performances in both batting and bowling.

Bonus Points for Batting:

• A team winning by 8 wickets receives 1 bonus point.
• A 9-wicket victory grants 2 extra bonus points.
• A dominant 10-wicket win secures 3 additional points.

Bonus Points for Bowling:

• Winning by a margin of 50 runs earns the bowling side 1 bonus point.
• A 75-run victory margin results in 2 bonus points.
• Winning by 100 runs or more awards 3 bonus points.

Additional Performance-Based Points:

Teams can earn extra points regardless of the match outcome:

• Scoring between 350 and 374 runs in an innings grants 1 bonus point.
• Scoring 375 runs or more earns 2 bonus points.
• Taking 8 wickets in an innings provides 1 bonus point.
• Dismissing the entire batting lineup (10 wickets) results in 2 bonus points.

PowerPlay Bonus Points:

The PCB has also introduced PowerPlay-specific bonuses to encourage aggressive play:

• Bowling teams that take 3 wickets during the first PowerPlay receive 1 bonus point.
• Batting teams that score 100 runs in the first PowerPlay are awarded 2 bonus points.

The Champions One-Day Cup is currently underway at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, with Mohammad Rizwan’s UMT Markhors facing off against Shadab Khan’s Panthers.
