The South Africa Women’s cricket team touched down at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore ahead of their tour for a three-match T20I series against Pakistan. The series is set to take place next week, with matches scheduled at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
Led by captain Laura Wolvaardt, the South African squad embarked on their journey from Johannesburg, making a stopover in Dubai before arriving in Lahore. The team will soon travel to Multan via a chartered plane to prepare for the upcoming matches.
South Africa will face Pakistan in three T20I matches on September 16, 18, and 20. The first two matches will commence at 7 PM, while the final match is scheduled for a 10 AM start. All matches will be held at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
The Pakistan squad, led by Fatima Sana, includes key players such as Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, and wicketkeeper Muneeba Ali. The team also features Nashra Sundhu, Nida Dar, and Omaima Sohail, among others. Sadia Iqbal’s participation is subject to fitness.
The South African squad, captained by Laura Wolvaardt, boasts experienced players like Marizanne Kapp, Sune Luus, and Chloe Tryon. The team also includes Tazmin Brits, Sinalo Jafta, and Ayabonga Khaka, forming a strong lineup for the series.
This series between South Africa and Pakistan serves as a crucial preparation for both teams ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan is placed in Group A alongside Australia, India, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, South Africa is grouped with Bangladesh, England, Scotland, and the West Indies.
