Ahmed Nawaz, a survivor of the tragic Army Public School (APS) attack in Peshawar, has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) by King Charles III. Nawaz received this honor in recognition of his efforts to campaign for youth empowerment worldwide over the past five years.
In his statement, Nawaz expressed immense honor at receiving the BEM, emphasizing that the award represents his unwavering determination and the recognition of his global advocacy for young people.
Nawaz’s father, Muhammad Nawaz, shared with Geo News that investing in one’s children yields significant returns, citing Ahmed as a source of national pride.
At the age of 14, Nawaz survived the APS attack by feigning death and witnessed the horrific events of that day, including his teacher being set on fire. He was treated for multiple injuries at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Previously, Nawaz also received the Global Legacy Award 2019 from Prince William at Kensington Palace. Nawaz’s recent honor underscores his continued commitment to inspiring and empowering youth globally.
