Rain and thundershowers are expected in the upper and central regions from September 26 to October 1, 2024. According to the Met Office, moist air from the Bay of Bengal will start affecting upper regions from September 25, while a westerly system is likely to arrive on September 26.
In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, rain with thunderstorms (including isolated heavy falls) is forecasted in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Kurram, Orakzai, Kohat from the evening of September 26 to October 1, and in Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, and Dera Ismail Khan from September 27 to October 1 with intermittent gaps.
For Punjab and Islamabad, similar rain and thunderstorms (with isolated heavy falls) are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Tala Gang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, and Wazirabad from the evening of September 26 to October 1. Meanwhile, areas like Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, and Bhakkar will see rain from the night of September 27 to October 1.
In Kashmir, rain and thunderstorms are expected from September 26 to October 2 in Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur. Similarly, in Gilgit-Baltistan, Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza, Ghanche, and Shigar can expect rain and thunderstorms from September 26 to October 2.
Hot and dry weather is forecast for most of Balochistan and Sindh. However, isolated areas in Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Umerkot, and surrounding areas might experience rain with thunderstorms between September 26 and 28.
Heavy rain could cause increased water flow in local streams in Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Nowshera, Swabi, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, and parts of Northeast Punjab during this period.
Urban flooding may occur in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Sialkot.
Landslides could disrupt roads in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Windstorms and lightning might damage weak structures like the roofs and walls of kacha houses, electric poles, billboards, vehicles, and solar panels.
Farmers should plan their activities according to the forecast.
Tourists and travelers are advised to exercise caution and adjust their travel plans to avoid potential disruptions.
