Kamran Akmal Urges PCB to Learn From BCCI

Former Pakistani cricketer Kamran Akmal has publicly criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for its lack of professionalism following Pakistan’s embarrassing 2-0 whitewash at home against Bangladesh. Kamran Akmal suggested that the PCB should take cues from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kamran Akmal expressed his disappointment with the current state of Pakistan cricket. “PCB should learn from BCCI, their professionalism, their team, selector, captain, and coaches. These are the things that make a team number one and dominate the world. If we were so good, then Pakistan cricket wouldn’t be here. It is because of your ego Pakistan cricket is suffering,” he stated.

Pakistan’s cricketing challenges have been mounting over the past few years. The team faced a series of setbacks, including a loss in the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka in 2022 and failing to progress beyond the Super 4 stage in the subsequent edition. Their struggles continued with an early exit from the 2023 World Cup as well as the 2024 T20 World Cup.

In response to these defeats, the PCB implemented significant changes. Babar Azam stepped down from the captaincy, with Shaheen Shah Afridi taking over, only for Babar to be reinstated as the white-ball captain months before the T20 World Cup. Despite these changes, the team’s performance remained inconsistent.

In light of these ongoing challenges, the PCB has announced a high-level Connection Camp aimed at establishing a unified vision for the future of Pakistan cricket. Scheduled for Monday, the camp will feature nine players, including Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, alongside coaching staff such as head coaches Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten.
