The Customs authorities have seized over two dozen imported phones, including the newly launched iPhone 16 Pro Max at Islamabad Airport.
Sources told ProPakistani that the customs staff posted at Islamabad airport made the first case of iPhone 16 Pro Max by confiscating 30 iPhone 16 Pro Max from passengers coming from UAE.
Sources said that the passenger, a resident of Quetta, was reportedly in touch with Customs staff. However, the other staff foiled this bid to smuggle phones.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max was recently launched, and dealers in Pakistan get good margins by importing phones without paying duties and then selling into the market.
Reportedly, the Customs officials have registered an FIR against the passenger. However, it did not include the name of the official who was in contact with the passenger for the clearing of said phones.
A few days ago, Customs staff also seized phones at Islamabad Airport but did not register an FIR.
The Customs department is bound to register an FIR for over Rs. 5 million seizure of goods.

The only reason that the customs staff confiscated the iphone and arrested the passenger is because their seniors and themselves did not get a cut…
