Dubai-bound PIA Flight Experiences Hydraulic Malfunction

An emergency occurred on a PIA flight from Karachi to Dubai over the Gulf of Oman when the plane rapidly descended 26,000 feet in just six minutes. According to a PIA spokesperson, the pilot expertly managed the situation. Aviation sources reported that PIA Flight PK 213 took off from Karachi at 2:05 AM, and about an hour later, while cruising at 36,000 feet over the Gulf of Oman near Muscat, the Airbus A320 experienced a critical hydraulic system failure.

The aircraft dropped to 10,000 feet in six minutes, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency and request assistance from Muscat ATC and radar. A PIA spokesperson confirmed that a hydraulic system malfunction caused the emergency, but the pilot skillfully addressed the issue mid-flight.

Sources added that the pilot opted not to land in Muscat and instead continued to Dubai, flying at the low altitude of 10,000 feet for approximately 50 minutes. After a thorough inspection at Dubai Airport, the aircraft was cleared for its next flight, continuing its journey to Islamabad and Skardu. The PIA spokesperson also acknowledged that the airline is currently facing a shortage of aircraft due to recent administrative challenges.
