iPhone 16 Pro Users Face Touchscreen Issues on iOS 18 and 18.1

The newly launched iPhone 16 series, unveiled earlier this month, which in Apple’s words is the best iPhone series to date is facing screen issues. iPhone 16 Pro users have reported that their touchscreens are not responding.

Users have reported that their phone screens sometimes do not respond to their touch or swipes. The issue was encountered in both iOS 18 and iOS 18.1 making it a potential software issue. There is a possibility that the issue is caused by the Palm Rejection algorithm since users have faced this issue mostly near the bezels of the phone. This may have to do with the phone’s bezels being much smaller.

Users have also reported that the camera control button does not work sometimes. However, there is a semi-effective way to somewhat get rid of the problem until Apple resolves the issue. The workaround is to use a protective case, which should help prevent touching the edges of the screen.

Surprisingly, this problem does not occur when the phone is locked, which gives us more of an idea that this is a software problem. Regardless, all we can do now is wait for Apple to fix this issue in a future update.

The fix may roll out with the upcoming iOS 18 patches that are said to bring Apple Intelligence features onboard, which is Apple’s own suite of generative AI features powered by OpenAI as well as Google. The iOS 18.3 patch may come out sometime in October.
