Pakistan’s red-ball (Test) Head Coach Jason Gillespie has recommended that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) rest the selected players for the upcoming England Test series and not let them participate in the remaining matches of the Champions One-Day Cup.
Gillespie’s suggestion comes as 10 of the 15 players selected for the Test series are likely to be rested for the final knockout matches of the Champions One-Day Cup. The players expected to be rested for each team are:
Pakistan has announced its 15-man squad for the first Test against England, scheduled to commence on October 7 in Multan. The team will be led by Shan Masood, with Saud Shakeel as his deputy.
The 15-man squad includes the usuals, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah, while Aamer Jamal and Noman Ali have been recalled to the squad.
Unfortunately, Khurram Shahzad has been left out due to injury. Similarly, Mohammad Ali has also been dropped after below-par performances.
In the Champions Cup, Shadab Khan’s Panthers defeated Mohammad Rizwan’s Markhors in the playoff Qualifier to book their spot in the final. Meanwhile, Mohammad Haris’s Stallions will take on Shaheen Afridi’s Lions in the first Eliminator today.
The winner of this match will face the Markhors in the second Eliminator and then go on to face the Panthers in the final.
