In an interview with a local media outlet, Pakistan pace ace Shaheen Shah Afridi expressed his opinion regarding workload management issues in the modern game.
Shaheen Afridi stated that if we look at the greats of the past like Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, they did not have workload issues as people do today. The speedster further elaborated by saying that it all depends on individual approaches to different formats of the game.
He also explained that one needs to be mentally fit and strong, and the level of mental toughness will decide how one will react to workload issues.
“If you react crazy then you will never be able to perform. I know there are places where you are not able to perform. You try to adjust your body and technique, but sometimes all that takes a little bit of time. This is a little period where you need a little bit of support from your management and the people around you. Whatever the format is, one should enjoy it”, he added further.
Shaheen has struggled to get back to his best since persistent injury troubles started bothering him in 2022. With both his pace and form falling off significantly, he also fought through some knee troubles during a recent Champions Cup match.
Pakistan will hope this recent injury is a minor one and that he is fully fit by the time England come to town for a Test series starting next month
