The Punjab government has allocated Rs. 520 million to promote winter tourism in Murree and Galyat. The funds have been approved to attract more tourists and enhance their experience during the winter months.
A key focus of the project is improving road access and safety in these regions. Furthermore, efforts will be made to ensure quick snow removal and road expansions, especially in Galyat, to prevent disruptions caused by heavy snowfall.
Moreover, landslide-prone areas will be secured, as these zones are at risk during the winter due to snow and ice.
The package also addresses water shortages, a common problem in these areas. Water supply projects and the construction of storage tanks are planned to help residents and tourists.
Different authorities have been assigned responsibilities to ensure the smooth execution of these projects. The Murree district administration will manage snow clearing and road cleaning within Punjab’s boundaries. The Galyat Development Authority will oversee road maintenance and drinking water supply in areas under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).
Roads connecting Punjab, Azad Kashmir, and Galyat will also be maintained by the district administration of Murree, ensuring better connectivity for tourists.

It is very nice building trams, glass chair from Rawalpindi, distributing free solar panels, lab tops. These are cosmetic things. If you want to win the hearts of general public, reduce their miseries, like easy access to justice in courts, improvement in law and order, early resolution of pending cases in courts. Save poor people whose cases are pending for resolution in LDA, FDA, RDA, etc.
Many more such activities should be done. Mariam and Sahbaz try to solve the problems of general public where it matters. Otherwise they will be just like rulers of the past.
Do whatever you want to, no foreign tourist will visit Pakistan in the present circumstances, especially amidst the security situation. One purpose of promoting tourism is to accumulate foreign currency and those who can pump in dollars are the ones most concerned about security in the country. Your shutting the eyes to reality does not mean the reality is not there. It is a waste of money, which could have been spent first on education, health and infrastructure.
