Punjab Secretary of Transport, Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, has directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to expedite the repair work on the metro bus corridor from Saddar to Faizabad.
During his visit to the metro bus track, he was briefed on the ongoing rehabilitation, where the elevated road is being rebuilt with concrete instead of tiles.
Dr. Qazi emphasized the importance of the metro service, noting that over 100,000 people use it daily, and they cannot afford to be deprived of this facility for an extended period.
RDA Director General, Kinza Murtaza, said that the metro project is a key travel service for the public, and any delays will not be tolerated. The rehabilitation, which costs Rs. 718.945 million, is expected to be completed by December.
So far, six out of 20 designated sites have been completed, including parts of the Shamsabad, Rehmanabad, Waris Khan, and Liaquat Bagh bus stations.
The secretary and RDA officials have urged Chief Engineer Mohammad Anwar Baran to ensure the restoration work is completed as quickly as possible.
