Pakistani women’s cricket team is brimming with optimism and confidence ahead of the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
The tournament, set to commence on October 3 in the United Arab Emirates, has seen players like Touba Hasan, Najiha Alvi, and Tasmia Rabab express satisfaction with their rigorous preparations.
The team recently concluded a fitness camp in Lahore, which they believe has been instrumental in acclimatizing them to conditions similar to those in Dubai.
Touba Hasan emphasized the benefits of the Lahore camp, stating, “Our group is challenging, but we’re confident in our abilities to perform well in the World Cup.” Najiha Alvi, focusing on her role as a wicketkeeper, noted the minimal difference between Multan and Dubai’s conditions, which has aided in their seamless preparation.
Tasmia Rabab, a new addition to the national team camp, shared her confidence in the team’s readiness, highlighting their experience against tough competition.
The tournament will feature 150 of the world’s top players, with 10 teams competing in 23 matches across the renowned Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Dubai International Stadium.
The opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will see Bangladesh face off against newcomers Scotland. In Group A, Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in a highly anticipated rematch of their recent Asia Cup semi-final.
Meanwhile, Group B promises intense competition, with South Africa and England set to clash on October 7. The semi-finals will be held on October 17 and 18, with the grand finale on October 20.
