The federal government has started the process of terminating daily wage employees as part of its rightsizing policy.
A notification from the Establishment Division stated that, as of September 30, 2024, daily wage workers’ services have been transferred to a surplus pool, marking the beginning of a wider workforce reduction effort.
This decision aligns with the government’s long-term strategy to enhance operational efficiency by downsizing staff across multiple ministries and divisions.
In the notification, the Establishment Division informed daily wage employees that their services would no longer be needed after September 30.
Moreover, other ministries and divisions are expected to follow suit by issuing similar notifications to release their daily wage workers, adhering to the rightsizing directive. According to Ministry of Finance sources, this plan will be uniformly enforced across the federal government.
This move aims to cut costs and boost efficiency but is anticipated to affect a substantial number of daily wage employees across various sectors. The rightsizing policy reflects the government’s efforts to address financial constraints while restructuring its workforce for better performance.
