Shan Masood Finally Achieves Highest Test Score in Four Years

Pakistani Test skipper Shan Masood has achieved his highest Test score in four years, scoring 151 off 177 balls in the first Test match against England in Multan.

This performance marks a significant milestone for Masood, who has struggled to find form since his last century against England in August 2020.

Shan Masood’s innings, characterized by a decent strike rate and seven boundaries, have been a crucial component of Pakistan’s solid start after electing to bat first. His partnership with opener Abdullah Shafique has been instrumental in stabilizing the innings following the early dismissal of Saim Ayub. The pair guided Pakistan to a comfortable 263 for 3 on Day 1, setting a strong foundation for the rest of the innings.

This innings is particularly noteworthy for Shan Masood, who has been a consistent presence in the Pakistan squad but has faced challenges in converting starts into substantial scores. Since his last century 15 Tests ago, Shan Masood has averaged 22.15.

The decision to bat first by Pakistan reflects their strategy to capitalize on favorable batting conditions early in the match. Despite the early setback with Ayub’s dismissal, Masood and Shafique’s partnership has provided stability and momentum, crucial for setting a competitive total against a formidable England side.

As the match progresses, all eyes will be on Shan Masood to see if he can convert this promising start into a substantial innings, potentially leading Pakistan to a commanding position in the Test. His performance not only boosts his confidence but also strengthens Pakistan’s batting lineup, which has been seeking consistency in recent matches.
