Day 1 Highlights of National Weightlifting Championships in Lahore

The much-anticipated 66th Men’s Weightlifting Championship and the 6th National Women’s Weightlifting Championship began on Tuesday at the Burt Institute Hall in Lahore.

This event, organized by the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation in Lahore, features a lineup of 75 male and 61 female weightlifters competing for top honors.

Participants hail from various esteemed organizations, including Wapda, Army, Police, Railways, Higher Education Commission (HEC), and all four provinces, showcasing the depth and diversity of talent in Pakistan’s weightlifting scene.

Day One Highlights:

The opening day of the championship witnessed impressive displays of strength and technique as weightlifters competed across different weight classes.

  • 55 kg Class:
    • Gold: Haider Salman from the Pakistan Army dominated the category, securing the first position with a remarkable total lift of 230 kg.
    • Silver: Subhan Ali from Punjab followed with a commendable total lift of 192 kg.
    • Bronze: Muhammad Kamran from Pakistan Railways clinched the third spot with a total lift of 188 kg.
  • 61 kg Class:
    • Gold: Muhammad Yusuf from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) emerged victorious, lifting a total of 258 kg.
    • Silver: Muhammad Ali Ghani from the Pakistan Army closely trailed with a total lift of 257 kg.
    • Bronze: Timur Khan from Punjab secured the third position with a total lift of 239 kg.
  • 67 kg Class:
    • Gold: Abu Bakar Ghani from the Pakistan Army claimed the top position with a total lift of 263 kg.
    • Silver: Shujaat Kalim from Wapda earned the second spot with a lift of 233 kg.
    • Bronze: Muhammad Shayan from Pakistan Railways completed the podium with a total lift of 233 kg.
