Sharjeel Khan, the opening batsman for Ghani Glass, has been fined 25% of his match fee for violating the PCB’s code of conduct during the fourth-round match against Eshaal Associates in the ongoing President’s Cup at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Wednesday.
He was found guilty of breaching Article 2.8 of the PCB’s code, which addresses dissent against an umpire’s decision. Sharjeel Khan was declared out caught behind off Asad Raza’s bowling from Eshaal Associates, to which he reacted in a manner that was deemed inappropriate by the umpires.
The charges were filed by the on-field umpires, Imranullah Aslam and Ghulam Sarwar. Sharjeel acknowledged the charge and accepted the penalty handed down by match referee Kamran Chaudhary.
Ghani Glass only managed to post a meager total of 178 before being dismissed inside 40 overs, with Junaid Ali and Mohsin Riaz adding some respectability to otherwise lackluster first innings with scores of 47 and 51 each. Usman Tariq leads the bowling with 3 wickets in 9 overs.
Eshaal Associates managed to chase the total down with ease in the 33rd over, with Sajjad Ibrahim seeing his side home with a run-a-ball 61. Mohammad Rameez Junior was the only bowler in his side to cause the opposition a bit of bother, bagging 3 wickets of his own in 9 overs
