Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA), in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is planning a Utility Services Corridor (USC) alongside the upcoming Metro Bus Service routes in Faisalabad.
This corridor will have utilities such as internet, water and sanitation services (WASA), Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), and services from the Municipal Corporation.
The aim is to prevent digging up the ground again once the Metro Bus route is finished.
A delegation from the ADB, including consultants Karl Werning, Huma Daha, and Sadiq Aftab, recently met with FDA Director General Muhammad Asif Chaudhry to discuss the project.
The meeting, which also included FDA Chief Engineer Mehr Ayub and other officials, covered the technical and logistical aspects of the project. Senior ADB consultant Mike Johnston joined the meeting virtually.
The Director General highlighted the importance of this initiative for Faisalabad, emphasizing the government’s commitment to providing high-quality, efficient urban transport services. The ADB team also elaborated on the benefits of the USC, noting that it would help maintain the project’s quality by adhering to international standards.
Soon, the ADB plans to host a local stakeholder conference to further discuss the project and ensure smooth coordination between various public service departments involved in the USC development.
