Honda has issued another significant recall, affecting nearly 1.7 million vehicles, including many of its popular models as well as several from Acura. Following closely on the heels of a previous one regarding a seatbelt issue in the HR-V, this recall is due to a problem with the steering system, involving vehicles up to the 2025 model year.
What Causes The Issue?
The problem arises from a defect in the steering worm gear, which was manufactured and installed incorrectly. The worm gear spring was not up to the required standard, and its improper installation led to an issue with the steering system’s lubrication.
The grease inside the steering box thins out, making it harder to steer these vehicles. Among the affected models are the Acura Integra and Integra Type S, Honda Civic, Civic Hybrid, and Civic Type R as well as HR-V and CR-V.
How The Cars Will Be Fixed
Honda and Acura have outlined a fix. Dealerships will install a new worm gear spring to reduce the excess load on the steering system. Additionally, they will redistribute the existing grease or repack the steering gearbox with fresh grease, ensuring that steering performance returns to normal.

Not only is this information useless because it’s intended for the US market, but also misleading to local Civic and HR-V owners who will believe that their cars are included in the recall.
