Android 15 Starts Reaching Google Pixel Phones

Google has officially started the widespread distribution of Android 15, with its proprietary Pixel smartphones taking the lead in receiving the update as always.

The tech giant has stipulated that users need a Pixel 6 series device or a more recent model to access the new operating system. To accompany the release, Google published a comprehensive blog post outlining the key features introduced in this latest Android iteration.

Here are the Pixel phones getting the first wave of the Android 15 rollout:

New Features

One of the standout additions is the “Private space” function, which provides an extra layer of security for sensitive applications. When activated, this feature segregates designated apps from the rest, concealing them from view in the app drawer, recent apps list, notifications, and settings menus.

Android 15 also brings notable enhancements for tablet and foldable phone users. A new taskbar pinning option allows quick access to frequently used apps and app pairs. This feature is designed with user convenience in mind, as it can be easily toggled on or off using the same control.

Google’s upcoming Android 15 update will introduce Theft Detection Lock, a new security feature to safeguard your personal information. This feature automatically locks your phone if it detects suspicious movements, such as being snatched or swiped.

To enhance security further, Remote Lock allows you to remotely lock your phone from another device using your phone number, even if the Find My Devices feature is disabled.

Along with the Android 15 rollout, Google has also announced its October Pixel feature drop. This includes hands-free Google Gemini integration for Pixel Buds Pro, Pro 2, and Pixel Buds A-series earbuds.

Google’s Pixel 8 and newer phones will feature enhanced Night Sight and Astrophotography modes for capturing stunning low-light images. Additionally, these devices will offer underwater photography and video recording capabilities for capturing moments beneath the surface.

Audio Magic Eraser will help you focus on specific sounds in your videos, while the Pixel Weather app will now provide pollen-tracking information. Lastly, the thermometer app on the Pixel 8 Pro will integrate with the camera viewfinder for more accurate temperature readings.
