Iftikhar Ahmed Disciplined by PCB for Violating Code of Conduct

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has aimed its disciplinary arrow towards Iftikhar Ahmed, implementing a heavy fine on the all-rounder during the ongoing President’s Cup for his transgressions.

While captaining the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) team, Iftikhar reportedly breached a level 1 violation of the PCB’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel after showing dissent at the umpire’s decision after a leg-before-wicket appeal was rejected during his team’s bowling innings.

The incident took place during WAPDA’s first semi-final match against Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Sunday in the President’s Cup One-Day 2024-25 at Jinnah Stadium, Gujranwala.

The on-field umpires, Muhammad Asif and Zulfiqar Jan, raised the charges, and match referee Iqbal Sheikh conducted the hearing before Iftikhar was judged to have breached Article 2.8 of the PCB code and was promptly fined 50 percent of his match fees as a result.

Iftikhar Ahmed accepted the charge and the subsequent fine without showing any more dissent.

The news comes as another blow for the 34-year-old whose side went on to lose the semifinal by 74 runs.
