Two people lost their lives, and 22 others, including women and children, were injured in a collision between a Suzuki carrier and a car in Bahria Town Karachi (BTK) on Tuesday evening, according to police and rescue officials.
The deceased have been identified as truck driver Abdul Latif and Raheema Salman.
Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed reported that many of the injured are in critical condition, suffering from multiple injuries.
Gadap City SHO Sarfaraz Jatoi mentioned that both vehicles were extensively damaged in the accident.
Malir SSP Kashif Abbasi stated that police are investigating the incident. The Suzuki, carrying 22 passengers, had lost its way in Bahria Town. The passengers were residents of a village in Thatta district, about 30 kilometers from the housing society.
It is believed that the Suzuki driver, unfamiliar with the routes inside the housing society, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to collide with the car.
The injured were transported to the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Trauma Centre at Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi and the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in six ambulances.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed his sorrow over the fatalities and directed the Karachi Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner-East to provide all possible medical assistance to the injured.
