Sajid Khan Breaks Longstanding Record Against England

Pakistani off-spinner Sajid Khan has broken a bowling record that stood for 24 years during the first innings of the second test against England in Multan.

Sajid became the first off-spinner since 2000 to take a fifer at home for Pakistan.

The 31-year-old was instrumental in dismissing England for 291 as Pakistan looked to equal the series against the visitors.  With Duckett and Joe Root rebuilding for their side, Sajid triggered a collapse with three quickfire strikes in the span of 10 balls to send back Root, Duckett, and Harry Brook and put the hosts in front.

Having already claimed Ollie Pope earlier in the day, Sajid then dismissed Brydon Carse to complete his five-wicket haul.

Matthew Potts and Shoaib Bashir fell to the spinner in the morning session of the third day as Sajid Khan finished with final figures of 26.2-1-111-7 to give Pakistan a crucial 75-run lead.

Saqlain Mushtaq was the last off-spinner to take five wickets in Pakistan, a feat he accomplished against the same opposition at Rawalpindi.

At lunch, Pakistan had reached 60 for the loss of 3 as Multan’s used strip was beginning to finally play tricks with the batters. In-form batsman Kamran Ghulam is still at the crease, as fans hope he is able to steady Pakistan’s innings once again and set a formidable total for England.
