SBP Crowned President’s Cup Champions

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) were crowned the President’s Cup One-day tournament champions for the 2024-25 season after a comfortable win at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.

SBP took out the defending champions Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) by seven wickets courtesy of a professional knock by Imran Butt (68* off 133 balls).

The final failed to live up to the hype as SNGPL were skittled for 165 in 37.3 overs despite opting to bat after winning the toss.

After an auspicious opening partnership of 48 runs between Shahzaib Khan (17) and Mirza Tahir Baig (48 off 51 balls) SNGPL failed to get any meaningful contribution from the middle order as Kashif Bhatti (3-28), Mohammad Abbas (3-41) and Sirajuddin (2-32) tore through their line-up.

In reply, after losing opener Mohammad Faizan (22), SBP’s Imran Butt and captain Umar Amin (40) shared an 80-run partnership to stabilize the chase.

Amin’s dismissal brought Fawad Alam (28) to the crease who played his part in a crucial 56-run stand for the third wicket.

Imran Butt continued to anchor the innings at the other end comfortably seeing SBP home with seven wickets in hand and 38 balls to spare to annex the President’s Cup.

For SNGPL, Yasir Shah, Bilawal Bhatti, and Kashif Ali claimed one wicket each.

After the match awards were distributed as follows:
