Pakistan’s 152-run victory against England in the 2nd Test at Multan raised some eyebrows as the Men in Green registered their first win in three years at home, having an impact on the World Test Championship points table.
Pakistan’s spin duo, Noman Ali and Sajid Khan ran riot as they contributed to all 20 English wickets with Noman picking up 11 in the match while Sajid went home with 9 scalps.
As a result of the win, Pakistan has bounced back from the bottom of the table and leapfrogged West Indies to move to the eighth place. England, on the other hand, stayed at the fourth spot, behind Sri Lanka, Australia and India, despite 8 losses in the World Test Championship cycle.
England looked clueless in dry and hot conditions in Multan, the venue where they scored 823/7 in the previous Test match, as the spinners spun a web around them. Despite some spells with the ball, England were never in the game with Pakistan dominating all sessions in the Test match.
The Men in Green will be hoping to continue their winning ways and register another victory in the 3rd Match of the series, set to commence in Rawalpindi on 24 October. England will be looking to quickly bounce back and get their World Test Championship run back on track.
