Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has come to the aid of former captain Babar Azam after Pakistan’s test win over England at Multan.
Babar became a punchline and a butt of jokes online after Pakistan’s win with internet trolls associating his absence from the team as the reason for Pakistan’s victory. The 30-year-old has been under constant scrutiny after his recent failures with the bat.
The voices against Babar only grew louder after Pakistan ended a long run of losing matches at home.
Amid the growing backlash, Babar found an unlikely support in Mohammad Amir who advised the public to let go of this guttural narrative.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) Amir wrote (translated): “Guys, please stop this nonsense about how the team won because Babar wasn’t there or that player wasn’t there. We played better with good planning, took advantage of playing at home, and won. Let’s focus on performance rather than making it personal about the players.”
Yar pls yeah ghatia soch khatam karo k babar team me ni tha ya woh player ni tha to team jeet gayi .hum better planning k sath khaile home advantage liya or jeet gaye. pls personal na hn apne player's k sath yes performance base ap bat Karen but pls personal na hn.

Amir likely referred to journalist Shoaib Jatt in his tweet after Shoaib, a long-time critic of Babar, was quick to point out the batter’s absence as the reason for Pakistan’s victory.
DO U KNOW ???
In 1349 days it was very 1st time 👑 wasn't in Team 🇵🇰.

Amir was wise to point out that Pakistan finally delivered a pitch that suited its spinners as the reason for the win.
Babar is currently away from the national side after being dropped for the remainder of the England series but is expected to earn a recall in the team set to tour Australia.
