The Pakistan Shaheens have qualified for the semi-finals of the Men’s T20 Emerging Asia Cup after defeating UAE by a massive margin of 114 runs.
Batting first, Pakistan Shaheens set a decent total of 179 runs for four wickets down after the allotted 20 overs. Captain Mohammad Haris led the way with a blistering knock of 71 runs off 49 balls which included six 4’s and three 6’s. Haider Ali chipped in with quickfire a 17 ball 32.
In response, the United Arab Emirates could barely get going, getting bowled out cheaply for a measly 65 in 16.5 overs. Captain Rahul Chopra remained top scorer for his side with 20.
Shahnawaz Dahani served as the chief tormentor, bagging figures of 5 for 12 from his four overs, bowling 2 maidens in the process. Sufyan Muqeem picked up two wickets, with Ahmed Daniyal, Abbas Afridi and Arafat Minhas managing to pick up one a piece as well.
With India facing Oman in the last fixture of their group, it is thought Pakistan will finish second behind India provided Oman does not spring any nasty surprises on the Men in Blue. This means Pakistan are likely to face Sri Lanka, leaders of Group A following their win over Bangladesh, in the semi-finals.
The two semi-finals are scheduled to take place on the same day, October 25th at the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium.
