Pakistan Cricket team’s test coach Jason Gillespie has thrown his support behind Babar Azam, backing him to make a triumphant return to the format.
Babar’s recent struggled with the bat continued against England in the first test before PCB selection committee decided to make the unprecedented move of dropping the once untouchable batter. He has now found another supporter in the Australian.
In a recent interview with a sports channel, Gillespie was confident of Babar’s return to form.
“Babar is a fine player. I think he is one of the best players in the world. Yeah he had a bit of a lean patch with the bat but there aren’t any player around who wouldn’t have had a lean patch. I am very confident Babar will be back scoring a lot of runs for Pakistan”.
The Australian’s backing is a welcome respite for Babar who has failed to cross the 50-run mark in 18 innings, a streak which was once unheard of for a batter of his stature. Babar Azam is expected to return to the team for upcoming series against Australia but may not be able to linkup with Jason Gillespie until December this year for their tour of South Africa.
The former fast bowler does not have a say anymore on who gets to join him but will be hoping to have his superstar back in the camp.
