Former Pakistani wicketkeeper Rashid Latif reserved some solid praise for Mohammad Rizwan in the wake of Pakistan’s victory in the deciding Test of the England series in Rawalpindi.
Speaking on a TV show, Rashid Latif made sure to point out that being on wicketkeeping duty on pitches like the ones during the second Test and the third, especially on the later days is a hard task, but the way Mohammad Rizwan went about his duties in those testing conditions deserved great commendation.
To put things into perspective, Latif explained that Rizwan had held 9 crucial chances, with almost no mistakes to be spotted in his performance whatsoever. He compared this with English keeper Jamie Smith, who missed just 2 critical catches, but it ended up costing not only the 2nd Test in Multan but then also the series in Rawalpindi.
Muhammad Rizwan, while not as good with the bat as he might have liked in the series, was pivotal behind the stumps. After a barren first Test, the keeper recorded 2 catches and 2 stumpings in the 2nd one at Multan and followed it up with 3 catches and 2 stumpings in Rawalpindi.
