Six Pakistani nationals have been arrested in Riyadh for engaging in a public fight, marking the latest incident of this kind in Saudi Arabia.
According to police, the altercation involved six Pakistani residents in Saudi Arabia, who were captured on video fighting in a public area due to an internal dispute. Following the incident, they were taken into custody and referred to public prosecution after completing the necessary legal formalities.
A photograph of the detained individuals was released by police. Authorities are also seeking the individual who filmed and posted the video online, as this action violated Saudi Arabia’s anti-cybercrime law.
The arrested Pakistanis are reportedly facing deportation as a consequence.
In recent months, Saudi authorities have detained several individuals in connection with various law-breaking and violent incidents. Earlier this month, police apprehended eight people involved in two separate incidents of public violence, which included seven expatriates—identified as Pakistani and Afghan nationals—who appeared in a video brawling in public.
In September, authorities reported the arrest of 12 expatriates involved in public altercations in Riyadh. In July, 11 expatriates were detained for blocking traffic in Riyadh, an incident they also recorded and shared online.
