New Zealand cricketer Colin Munro has hailed Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi as the toughest bowler he has faced, citing the unique challenges Afridi’s bowling presents, especially to top-order batters.
Munro, known for his explosive batting style and experience across various T20 leagues globally, acknowledged that Afridi’s blend of pace, swing, and accuracy makes him exceptionally difficult to face.
The New Zealander made his comments during an online interview. He added that Afridi’s skill set, which includes a lethal in-swinging yorker and a deceptive bouncer, makes him unpredictable and dangerous, particularly in the powerplay overs.
Shaheen Afridi and Colin Munro have a long history of facing each other in both international and franchise cricket. The pacer has gotten the better of his opponent many times using the very gifts which made him one of the best bowlers early in his career.
He terrorized the opening batters and a wicket in his first over was practically a guarantee.
Shaheen’s stature has taken a hit in recent years, particularly after seeing a decrease in his bowling pace after a significant knee injury he suffered in the World Cup. He is still part of PCB’s plans but with the constant supply of fast bowlers in the Pakistani circuit everyone will be keeping an eye on his future.
