November is shaping up as a pivotal month for Pakistan cricket, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) eagerly preparing to welcome a delegation team from the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The delegation will conduct a thorough assessment of Pakistan’s readiness for the ICC Champions Trophy, scheduled for next year.
This visit holds immense significance for the PCB. A subpar review could jeopardize Pakistan’s plans to host the high-profile tournament.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has kept ICC officials in the loop, updating them on renovations underway at all three venues set to stage matches.
Naqvi has personally overseen significant progress at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi. Sharing positive updates, he assured that all refurbishments will meet the December 31st completion deadline.
The Gaddafi Stadium is receiving the most extensive upgrades, as it will host the majority of the Champions Trophy matches. Rawalpindi’s stadium will also play a prominent role, while Karachi will host three games.
This inspection follows the trend of ICC visits since the return of international cricket to Pakistan, and the PCB will be looking for a favorable review to bolster their efforts in hosting the tournament and ensuring teams worldwide feel confident traveling to Pakistan for a successful event.
