Former Pakistan cricket captain Zaheer Abbas is reportedly ready to step back in Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) management with the governing body of cricket eyeing him for an “important” but as of yet undisclosed role.
Rumors suggest that the “Asian Bradman,” is on the verge of joining the PCB’s Board of Governors (BoG), with his nomination likely backed by the State Bank of Pakistan, marking the first step toward his formal involvement.
Zaheer Abbas has previous experience of serving Pakistan cricket as a team manager following the end of his playing days.
Meanwhile, the PCB has again restructured some key areas as has been the case under the chairmanship of Mohsin Naqvi with two more members departing earlier this week.
Renowned as one of Pakistan’s finest batters, Abbas achieved legendary status with his prolific career, becoming the first Pakistani to notch up 100 first-class centuries. His graceful stroke play and unyielding consistency earned him admiration around the cricketing world.
Abbas’s presence on the BoG would bring invaluable insight and leadership, and his strategic acumen is seen as a strong addition to Pakistan cricket’s administrative future as it looks to bring back the glory days.
