How to Get an International Driving License
To apply for an International Driving License you need to follow a straightforward process with specific documents and steps.
Documents
- Valid Passport: Provide an attested copy.
- Passport size photos: Two attested photographs.
- Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC): Three copies.
- National Driving License: One copy.
Additional requirements: those over 50 years old may need a medical certificate, and a blood group report may be required for applications at the Motorway Police.
Visit The Driving License Authority
- Token & Data Entry: Obtain a token and complete data entry at the relevant authority office.
- Eye CheckUp: Undergo an eyesight test to meet vision requirements.
- Verification: Submit biometric details and a live photo for identity verification.
Tests
Applicants must pass a traffic signs test, including a scenario-based test if applying in Islamabad, to demonstrate knowledge of road signs.
Next is a supervised practical driving test, either in a personal vehicle or one provided by the office, to confirm driving skills.
After successful completion of these steps, the International Driving License is issued within approximately one week.

Usman bhai there is a road test always in any of the country, this is only about where the basic knowledge of driving is required to exempt extra learning hours.
I don’t think so. I made international driving permit but it’s not applicable in KSA.

This appears to be international license issued by Motorway. Procedure and tests are different then other licenses issued in our country.

I have obtained IDL from Islamabad, it is not valid in Oman.
Only you can drive a rent-a-car.
To drive a private car, you need to obtain local omani license.

I have rented cars and driven in the US for years without an IDL. They don’t ask for it there. The National Driving License is acceptable because all the information is in English. I’ve even had to show it to police officer after an accident. What is so different about this IDL?
