India’s Virat Kohli and Pakistan’s Babar Azam have once again found themselves on a list for their batting exploits but uncharacteristically for both, the list refers to their underperformance rather than their usual guile with the bat.
The two, regarded as one of the finest batters in cricket, have struggled to get going with the bat in 2024 which shows in the performance of their teams.
Babar was “rested” against England for the first time in his career after unceremonious losses to Bangladesh and England in the first test while Kohli was a no-show in India’s series against New Zealand which ended with the Kiwis white-washing the hosts.Â
It is no wonder that both these batters join the list of batters who have played the most amount of innings in 2024 without registering a hundred in any of the formats.
Azam leads the list with 27 innings, joining compatriot Saim Ayub at the top while Kohli has had 25 outings in the field without a ton to his name.
Australia’s Mitch Marsh, Sri Lanka’s Sadeera Samarawickrama and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips punctuate the list.

Babar Azam scored his last century in August 2023 in and ODI against Nepal while Virat Kohli breached the hundred-run mark last time in November 2023 against New Zealand in an ODI.
With ICC World Test Championship and the Champions Trophy still to come, both Pakistan and India will be hoping their stalwarts return to form.
