Boxer Muhammad Waseem Announces Eliminator Bout in Dominican Republic

Pakistani boxing star Muhammad Waseem is set to face an American opponent in a crucial final eliminator fight in the Dominican Republic on December 13.

The flyweight champion shared the news on Tuesday, adding that he would reveal his opponent’s identity next week.

“I’m thrilled to announce my new promotion and training camp in Liverpool, which will be followed by stops in the USA and then the Dominican Republic for the big fight,” Waseem told reporters.

The former three-time World Boxing Council (WBC) World Silver flyweight champion has ambitious plans beyond this bout, aiming to bring the World title to Pakistan in April 2025. “Hosting the World title in Pakistan is monumental, and I’ll be honored to be a part of it,” he said.

With an impressive record of 13 wins and only two World title losses in 15 fights, Waseem is looking to add to his streak after recently returning to the ring with a victory in Malta this past October, following a two-and-a-half-year hiatus.

“I’m optimistic about my success in the upcoming bout,” Waseem remarked confidently, as he eyes both victory and the chance to make history by competing for a World title on home soil next year.

Muhammad Waseem’s only two losses have come when challenging for the IBF Flyweight title but he is hopeful of putting the past shortcomings behind him to finally get his hands on the coveted prize.
