Australia Announces Replacement for Cooper Connolly

Cricket Australia (CA) has named the replacement for injured Cooper Connolly for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan.

Wicketkeeper-batter Josh Philippe will replace the youngster who fractured his left hand during the third ODI in Perth.

Connolly sustained the injury while facing a fierce delivery from Pakistan pacer Mohammad Hasnain. The impact was severe enough to force him to retire hurt, leaving him side-lined from the imminent T20 series.

Cricket Australia confirmed that Cooper Connolly fractured his fourth metacarpal and will meet with a specialist on Monday to determine his next steps in recovery.

Philippe, fresh off his recent performances in the One Day Cup, will join the squad in Brisbane, where Australia’s preparations for the three-match series are in full swing.

As Australia prepares to face a strong Pakistani line-up, Philippe’s addition offers the squad additional depth and experience behind the stumps.

The first T20I clash of the three-match series between Australia and Pakistan is set for November 14 at the Gabba in Brisbane.
