AIDS Outbreak Reported Among Dozens of Patients After Treatment From Major Govt Hospital

In a troubling development at Multan’s Nishtar Hospital, 30 patients have reportedly contracted AIDS, prompting immediate concern and action from hospital authorities.

According to initial details, the infection may have spread due to improper handling within the hospital’s dialysis unit.

Hospital officials disclosed that an AIDS patient had undergone dialysis on a machine that was subsequently used for other patients, potentially facilitating the transmission of the virus.

As a precautionary measure, the hospital administration has closed down two dialysis machines linked to the infections and launched an inquiry to determine the exact cause of the outbreak. An investigation committee has been set up to thoroughly assess the situation.

Hospital representatives have raised the possibility that some of the affected individuals could have contracted the virus from blood transfusions received outside the hospital, suggesting this as another angle for investigation.

The outbreak has raised serious questions about the hospital’s infection control practices, particularly within its dialysis unit, with calls for improved protocols to safeguard patient health.
