Sufyan Khan, the first Pakistani player to win the International Hockey Federation’s Rising Star Award, expressed that the award is an honor and a source of pride for him and the entire nation, adding that the award has greatly boosted his confidence.

During a celebratory moment at the ongoing Junior Asia Cup training camp, Sufyan cut a cake to mark the occasion, surrounded by teammates and management who congratulated him and wished him continued success.

Reflecting on his journey, Sufyan Khan emphasized the role of teamwork and the support of his colleagues in securing the award.

“This is not just my award; it belongs to all of us,” he stated. “We’re motivated to perform with even greater dedication to bring more victories to our team.” He voiced his hope for Pakistan to showcase its dominance by winning the Junior Asia Cup, scheduled for November 26 in Muscat.

Team Manager Ajmal Khan praised Sufyan as a “shining star of Pakistan hockey,” noting that the international hockey community has recognized his talent. He called Sufyan an inspiring role model for other players, stressing that with hard work and focus, Pakistani players can quickly make their mark on the world hockey stage.

Head Coach and Olympian Qamar Ibrahim also lauded Sufyan’s skills, remarking that he consistently poses a threat to opposing teams. “It was thrilling to see his play during the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy and other recent events,” Qamar said.

Despite Pakistan hockey’s bleak presence, players like Sufyan Khan are an example of the public’s continued devotion to the national sport.
