‘We Welcome Them With Open Arms’: Rizwan Sends Message to India

Pakistan cricket team’s limited-overs captain Mohammad Rizwan has sent a friendly message to the Indian cricket team regarding the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

The wicket-keeper batter was asked by reporters to express his opinions on the ongoing crisis between PCB and BCCI on the Champions Trophy issue and he kept his reply short. Rizwan said,

K.L Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav are always welcome in Pakistan. Whoever visits will be welcome. It is not in our hands and PCB will decide what happens among themselves but I hope they will visit and we will host them.

India’s acting T20 Captain Suryakumar Yadav was recently asked the same question and his reply was in a similar vein that the two boards will decide the future of the tournament.

Both India’s test team and Pakistan’s limited-overs team are currently in Australia simultaneously. While Pakistan has three T20Is coming up against the Aussies, the Baggy Greens are hosting India for five Border-Gavaskar Trophy test matches.

Players from Pakistan and India have shown no hesitation in facing each other despite their interactions being limited to just ICC-sanctioned events.

Despite their willingness to compete, the decision is likely out of their hands with the two governing bodies jostling to shift the results in their favour.

On the field though, the Pakistan cricket team seems to have finally found its lost footing. After dominating Australia in the ODI series, Mohammad Rizwan and his men are looking to get the job done in the three-match T20I series beginning from tomorrow November (14th).

The 2025 Champions Trophy is slated from February 19th to March 9th next year but the fate of these two teams remains up in the air.
