Arch rivals Pakistan and India have been placed in the same group for the upcoming inaugural edition of the ACC U19 Women’s Asia Cup. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) released the tournament line-up, which will see six teams competing for the title from December 15 to 22 in Malaysia.
Pakistan, India, and Nepal are grouped together in Group A, while Group B features hosts Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. The tournament opener on December 15 will see Pakistan and India face off, adding another chapter to one of cricket’s fiercest rivalries. Pakistan will follow up with a match against Nepal on December 16.
The top two teams from each group will move forward to the Super Four stage, scheduled for December 19 and 20, where they will compete across groups to secure a spot in the final. The championship match will take place on December 22, with the two best teams from the Super Four battling for the title.
This latest group pairing in the ACC U19 Women’s Asia Cup continues the long-standing tradition of Pakistan and India meeting early in ICC and ACC events.
Although there is uncertainty about whether Pakistan will allow its team to face India after the ongoing Champions Trophy fiasco, their rivalry at the Under-19 level promises to bring added intensity, as young talents from both nations prepare to make their mark in this debut tournament.
