Pakistan vs Australia 1st T20: Lightning Delays Game, Cut-off Time Revealed

The first T20I between Pakistan and Australia is facing further delays because of lightning near the ground in Brisbane.

The match, which is being held at the Gabba, is likely to go through with weather reports suggesting the showers have passed over the ground to the nearby areas. Ground staff has confirmed that the main militating factor is lightning which is accompanying the inclement playing conditions.

Toss for the game was scheduled for 12:45 PM (PST) but was called off shortly after the reports of constant rain in the vicinity. Both teams have also yet to name their playing XIs and the change in the conditions after the rain may alter their final playing line-ups as well.

The cutoff time for a possible seven-over contest is 3:20 PM (PST) and 8:20 PM (AEST).

Mohammad Rizwan is set to take charge of his first game as the captain of the national team when the action commences. The wicket-keeper batter could become the first captain to win his opening two series down under with a triumph in the T20I series.

If the first T20I is washed out, the advantage shifts to Australia rather than Pakistan as the hosts will need to win just a single game to keep their pristine record at home intact.

The second T20I between the two sides is scheduled for November 16th at the SCG.
