The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has streamlined the VPN registration process for organizations and freelancers, according to Spokesperson PTA.
Entities such as software houses, call centers, banks, embassies, and freelancers can now easily register their VPNs online through the PTA’s official website.
Freelancers, alongside IT companies and Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) members, can apply for VPN registration by completing an online form and submitting essential details, such as NIC numbers, company registration credentials, and taxpayer status. Freelancers are also required to provide proof of their project or company affiliation and an IP address for connectivity. For those using a fixed IP address, this can be obtained through their internet service provider.
PTA has processed over 20,000 registrations so far. Approval is free of charge and typically takes 8 to 10 hours. This initiative is expected to significantly benefit freelancers and IT professionals and offer them seamless access to secure VPNs for commercial activities.
Note: Any individual requiring a VPN for commercial purposes can apply under the ‘Freelancer’ category and needs to provide the required information including supporting evidence from the employer.

How can a pure freelancer, show any affiliation with any company? They are called freelancers because they are self employed and work on gigs or short term projects and once that’s done, they hop on to the next. They aren’t even necessarily bound with platforms.
