A stellar four-wicket haul by Abrar Ahmed and a record-breaking century by Saim Ayub propelled Pakistan to a dominant 10-wicket win over Zimbabwe in the second ODI of the three-match series at Queens Sports Club on Tuesday.
Chasing a modest target of 146, Pakistan made light work of the total, reaching it without losing a wicket and with 190 balls to spare. Saim Ayub led the charge with an electrifying maiden ODI century, reaching the milestone in just 53 balls—the third-fastest by a Pakistani in men’s ODIs, behind only Shahid Afridi.
The left-hander smashed an unbeaten 113 off 62 balls, hitting 20 boundaries, including three towering sixes. His incredible knock overshadowed a solid 32 not out from Abdullah Shafique, who played the supporting role in the unbroken opening stand.
Zimbabwe’s Batting Struggles
Earlier, opting to bat first, Zimbabwe managed only 145 before being bowled out in the 33rd over.
Abrar Ahmed delivered a sensational spell, claiming 4/33 in his eight overs to lead Pakistan’s bowling attack. Salman Ali Agha supported with three wickets, while Faisal Akram and Saim Ayub took one each, ensuring a clinical bowling performance.
Series Levelled at 1-1
With this emphatic win, Pakistan levelled the series 1-1, setting up a thrilling decider on Thursday at the same venue. The visitors will aim to carry their momentum into the final match to seal the series victory.
