The Redmi K80 duo is official in China with the K80 Pro, boasting the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, making it one of the most affordable phones so far with this premium SoC.
Other than that, it also adds several upgrades over the vanilla model including a camera, chipset, and more.
Starting with the screen, it has the same set of specifications as the vanilla model including a 6.67-inch OLED panel with 1440p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is unclear if it’s an LTPO panel, but there is likely support for a variable refresh rate still.
The screen can hit 3200 nits of peak brightness for good sunlight viewing and has support for HDR10+ content, Dolby Vision, and 68 billion colors. You get Xiaomi’s in-house Dragon Crystal 2.0 glass protection and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. There is also an IP68 rating on the Pro model for the first time.
As mentioned earlier, processing power comes from the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite, but since it tends to run hot, Xiaomi has also added a 3D dual-loop vapor chamber cooling system that can reduce temperatures by up to 3°C as per Xiaomi’s claims.
To further enhance the gaming experience, Xiaomi has integrated its custom D1 chip. This chip handles tasks like super-resolution, frame generation, and “super HDR,” allowing for boosted frame rates in demanding games and reduced load on the processor, leading to improved power efficiency.
Xiaomi’s new HyperOS 2 on top of Android 15 comes with performance improvements, animation upgrades, and AI features.
The main camera boasts a 50MP OmniVision OVX8000 sensor with a large 1/1.55″ sensor size and a bright f/1.6 lens with OIS. This setup enables 8K video recording at 24fps and 4K/1080p at up to 60fps similar to the vanilla phone. Accompanying the main camera is a 32MP ultra-wide lens with a 15mm focal length and a 120° field of view.
But what the vanilla phone doesn’t have is an additional Samsung JN5 1/2.76″ 50MP telephoto shooter with 2.5x optical zoom. It has the same 20MP selfie camera as the standard Redmi K80.
The battery size has been bumped up to 6,000 mAh, which is lower than the vanilla phone’s 6,550 mAh cell, but you get faster 120W wired charging compared to the 90W on the Redmi K80. You also get the added advantage of 80W wireless charging with the Pro model.
The Redmi K80 Pro has a starting price of $510 in China and is available in black, green, and white color options. There is also a special Automobili Lamborghini Squadra Corse version with a themed case, back panel, charger, and more. It starts at $690 and has more memory.
