Lahore Safari Zoo Welcomes 7 Lion Cubs

The Lahore Safari Zoo has recently celebrated the arrival of seven lion cubs, as confirmed by Zoo Director Tanveer Ahmed Janjua on Friday.

The cubs were born to three lionesses: one gave birth to three cubs, while the other two had two cubs each. Among the new additions, two are rare white lion cubs. In addition, the zoo welcomed three healthy Royal Bengal tiger cubs in recent weeks.

While all the cubs are reported to be in good health, four of the lion cubs were rejected by their mothers and are now being hand-fed by zoo staff. Veterinary experts note that big cats may reject their offspring if they sense any abnormalities, necessitating bottle-feeding in such cases.

These births have increased the zoo’s lion population from 22 to 29. The tiger cubs were born a few weeks earlier, adding to the zoo’s growing family of big cats.

Meanwhile, Karachi Zoo also welcomed three lion cubs recently, born to a healthy lioness. Zoo officials confirmed the lioness and her cubs are thriving, with plans to introduce them to the public in approximately two months, once the cubs reach eight weeks of age. Photos shared by the zoo show the cubs thriving under their mother’s care.

In related news, Karachi Zoo reported the death of a 30-year-old Bengal tigress due to natural causes. Bengal tigers typically live 18 to 20 years, making the tigress’s lifespan exceptionally long and noteworthy
