PCB Disrupts Domestic Cricket Calendar Again

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has once again caused disruption to its domestic cricket calendar with another schedule change.

In the latest development, the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy has been temporarily suspended, resulting in delays to both its final and the last match of the triangular stage, which was set to feature Lahore Whites and Sialkot.

Changes to Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Schedule

The decision to suspend the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy comes as the PCB prepares to launch the five-team T20 Champions Cup on December 7, leading to a reshuffling of fixtures.

The match between Lahore Whites and Peshawar, originally scheduled for December 2 in Abbottabad, will now be rescheduled.

Following that, Lahore Whites will face Sialkot in the triangular stage, with the new date for this fixture set for December 27. The venue for this match is yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final has been pushed back to January 2 of next year.

Previous Schedule Disruptions by PCB

This is not the first time the PCB has made last-minute changes to domestic competitions.

Earlier this year, the national U-19 regional tournament was postponed after only one day of the inaugural round had been played.

Furthermore, the start of the national junior women’s cricket tournament was canceled, and the PCB recently suspended the national women’s championship in Karachi following a fire at the hotel hosting the participating teams. Instead of relocating the teams, the board opted to halt the tournament entirely.

Concerns Over Stability of Domestic Cricket Schedule

These ongoing disruptions have raised concerns about the PCB’s ability to maintain a stable domestic cricket schedule, as the constant changes continue to affect both players and fans alike.

However, with the reshuffled management finally getting a year under its belt, better things are expected next time around.
