In a recent crackdown by Lahore Police, over 50 individuals were arrested for their involvement in selling spare parts from stolen motorcycles. Police reports indicate that more than 70% of the stolen bikes were over five years old.
The stolen motorcycles were typically taken to junkyards in areas such as Bilal Ganj and Misri Shah, where they were dismantled and sold for parts.
Many of the individuals involved in motorcycle theft were found to be drug addicts. SSP Taswar Iqbal stated that following the arrests at these junkyards, there has been a noticeable reduction in the number of motorcycle thefts in the city.
